Here is a place to share how experiences can lead to life lessons and personal growth. Things you learn along the way. How preconceived ideas can slow your progress. How you can change your perspective by giving things a chance. How your past experiences mold you to be the person you are today. How you can change the things about yourself that you don’t care for. How you can learn to feel the way you want to feel. How you can become the person you imagine yourself to be.
In a world full of suggestions on how to do things a certain way, I challenge you to find your own way.
Accept help of others, allow support from your people, and trust in your own abilities to navigate your life. Know that the only way to move forward is to make mistakes. Find solutions for your setbacks and make your next plan. Do not let others intimidate you. Whatever you set your mind to can be done. All great things take time and work. You have to know that if you dedicate yourself to something it will pay off over time. But overall, don’t stop! Keep moving towards your dreams. Never worry about how others perceive you. Don’t ever feel like you have to explain yourself and your decisions. It is people’s nature to doubt, sometimes for their own personal reasons. Stay focused and organized at all times and the results will show themselves. If you find yourself in a negative state of mind, know that time will change this and you can wake up on the other side. Redirect your mind to put you where you want to be and feel the way you want to feel.
If that doesn’t work, take a break! Do something that makes you smile. Prepare a homemade meal, plant a flower, plan a party, or call a friend. Whatever it is that gets you excited and makes you happy. I love to cook. I like to cook with fresh ingredients and create new dishes. I usually buy a variety of things at the grocery store and then when I prepare a meal I look at all of the ingredients I have on hand and just figure out something interesting to make. I like fresh best so I try to grow my own vegetables and herbs. Harvesting your own food is really satisfying and adds to the love of the dish!
What have you done that has changed you for the better? If you have no answer, what do you think you could do to change yourself and your life as it stands? This is about bettering yourself to being a person of value. Evolving your goals and priorities to bring you to a new beginning. Learning to let things go and move forward with opportunities that best suit you. Figuring out a way to do for yourself, your family, and others. Mainly, it is about not letting life run you but beginning to run your own life. Make solid choices and stand by them. Apologize when you are wrong and learn from that. Do not allow things to have control over you. You have a choice to give something or someone power.
Remember, you are in control of yourself.
Just like the plants that have their day, you will have your days as well. Know that is how life works, that your moments come and go. Relish in them when you have them and look forward to the next ones. Make the most of all the days in between that build you to have those times you cherish. Continue to work towards your plan, even when it feels difficult. Remember to celebrate others who are having their day, as they will return the favor. Life is never predictable and we cannot control the things that happen. Finding a place to be that creates peace for you and balances out others needs and your own will truly help you succeed.
Think about what things are going on with you that you feel are holding you down. What things/people in your life could you eliminate to help you thrive better? Is there something you have that is not bringing you joy? Whether it be a home, job, or relationship think about what it is and what you imagine would be better. Even if you feel trapped in it identify what it is and why it isn’t serving you well. Write down the key words that best represent it. Think about the idea of making a change. Then what are the things that seem like they would be better for you? Where do you see yourself?
Identify with yourself and dig into your dreams. Not everything is attainable, but what are those things you think you could reach out for? Never act quickly! Often we have ideas at a moment and when we revisit them they don’t feel right. Make your notes and come back every week and see how you still feel. Things may have changed in your perspective over time. Rewrite your list. Take things off of it that may not be true. Add new things that you discover along the way. In the end, you will begin designing your life in the way you see it to be fulfilling. If anything, you may eliminate the things that are holding you down. And if it is you that is holding yourself down, identify that too.
I used to be my worst enemy, now I am my biggest fan.
What kind of life do you want to live? At the end of the day you have yourself to answer to. Find the courage to believe in yourself. Make smart decisions and stick with them. While working on this project we often said “This is how you do it.” It is what we are doing and how we are doing it. When there was a problem we asked what can we do to resolve it. If an obstacle presented itself we asked how can we overcome this. Then we figured the steps it took to actually do it. Then we did it. The key to the entire project. We did it.
The hardest thing to do is push yourself. I used to think things were right when they were easy. Now I know things that are right can be difficult. Every little challenge we overcame brought us to the next step. Every step we made brought us to where we are today. It can be scary to commit yourself to something that feels impossible.
If you tell yourself it is possible, and you can do it, you will be on your way to starting your journey.
Then as we say, “Pull the Trigger!” Life presents so many choices, making that decision when you have a choice will put you on your path, whatever your path may be.
Personally, my path involved several things for me to reach for, to motivate myself, and to accomplish:
If you are needing to make a change in your life think about the things that are most important to you. Things you can reasonably accomplish. Things you dream about or wish for. Things that mean something to you. Things you can be proud about being a part of. Things that will bring you down the path you need to be. All things take time. Never feel bad about bettering yourself. Allow time to bring you to where you need to be. As long as you keep trying and work hard everything will fall into place. That’s simply a numbers game.
